Which countries are getting the most renewable energy?
- October 9, 2021
U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz has called for a new era of renewable energy, saying that the country is getting too many of its electricity from fossil fuels and needs to transition to renewable sources.
In his speech to the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Paris, Moniz called for new energy sources, including wind and solar power, as well as energy efficiency measures.
He said that countries around the world need to focus on the “environmental and social impacts” of energy consumption, especially the climate and air pollution.
He also called for renewable energy generation to be fully integrated into the energy mix in the country, and said the U, as a global leader, needs to invest in this emerging energy sector.

The report also calls for “a transition away from fossil fuel-based energy systems to sustainable and equitable energy systems.”
Moniz said in his speech that there are several ways the U can improve the sustainability of our energy system and create new jobs.
He called for “new investments in energy efficiency, renewables, and energy efficiency projects, as part of our transition to a renewable energy economy.”
The UBC’s president said in a statement that the university’s commitment to the environment and the environment’s ability to thrive will always be a priority, and he noted that the institution is “working closely with our colleagues in other universities and research centres around the country.”
