How to be the happiest person on the planet: A new study
- September 9, 2021
With her mother’s assistance, actress Julia Roberts has been taking care of her two daughters since birth, and now she’s making her own list of priorities for her daughters’ future.
The 30-year-old actress, who has been battling breast cancer for the past four years, shared a list of five priorities for the future of her daughters.
“They’re not going to take off like this, but I’m going to put it out there, and let them be who they are and do whatever they want to do,” Roberts told MTV News.
“I know I’m doing my best.”
For the sake of their daughters’ happiness, the actress shared the five biggest priorities she’s focused on for the next year.
“You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to focus on what’s most important,” she said.
“We have to have a sense of who we are as women, as parents, as human beings.”
Here are the five things the actress says she’s looking forward to the most this year.
1.
Keeping it real With her own experiences, Roberts shared that she has found a lot of comfort and peace through taking care to maintain the illusion of normalcy, but it doesn’t mean everyone is going to be happy.
“People get a little bored, a little nervous, and that’s okay,” she explained.
“The more you focus on yourself, the more you can relax and be happy, and the more calm you feel.”
2.
The “beautiful” part of life “Being a mom, being a dad, you’re in this place that’s the beautiful part of being human,” Roberts said.
She’s always looking for things that she could be doing to give her daughters that experience.
“There’s nothing that can replace being able to be a mom to these little girls,” she continued.
“It’s just a really beautiful thing to be able to see them and touch them, and be there for them.”
3.
Being a parent in a time of crisis “I think there’s so much suffering and trauma in this world that it’s important for us as parents to know that it doesn.t have to happen,” Roberts shared.
“If we can see that through the lens of love and compassion, we can do something to help other people and be able see it through their eyes,” she added.
“For a lot people, this is their moment.
You know, they’ve had their children, they’re parents, and you’re a parent.”
4.
Being the only parent in the family “I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to give my daughter the opportunity to be someone else.
Being able to share this with other parents is an incredibly empowering thing, and I think it’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me,” she shared.
5.
Being part of something bigger than yourself “I’m always going to miss being in my own space,” Roberts added.
And she knows her children will always love her for that.
“Just because I’m the only one, it doesn,t mean I can’t have fun, or be the one who makes them laugh, or give them the most fun,” she told MTV.
“And it doesn?t have any consequence.
It?s really not my fault.”
